Sadly, their journey took a tragic twist when Heather received a diagnosis of terminal breast cancer in December 2016. Heather’s diagnosis coincided with the day David Mosher proposed, affirming her that she would never be alone in her fight. This proposal was exquisitely choreographed, featuring a pair of draft horses and a carriage beneath a streetlight. Although their original wedding date was planned for December 30, 2017, due to Heather’s deteriorating condition, they brought forward the ceremony to December 22.
The nuptial ceremony transpired within the chapel of St. Francis Hospital, situated in Connecticut. Despite Heather’s frail state, she summoned every ounce of energy to revel in this joyful occasion. Her friend, Christina Lee, who concurrently served as a bridesmaid, captured heart-wrenching yet resplendent moments through the lens of her camera. Merely eighteen hours after uttering the words “I do” on December 22 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, she peacefully passed away at the tender age of 31. It is poignantly symbolic that her demise occurred on December 23, precisely one year after accepting David’s romantically inclined marriage proposal beneath the glow of a streetlight while perched upon a horse.
